New Float Glitch on Narrows?

So I went up man cannon on Narrows and unfortunately collided with someone in mid air. So i figured we both died, but I press the back button and he never died. I go to theater afterwards and find this. I can`t believe he survived that!

not new not uncommon. on any lift if you beat down on your way in it or midair you will float. If you do it on the way on or top of the flight you will be able to float to top mid. I have beat someone down going in to the lift with oddball at guardian and i floated mid air for like five seconds.

He meleed you and you I presume did the same. It slowed him down but for some reason let him go on by. It happens.
