It`s because the battle rifle has recoil. Every time you fire, the reticule pulls up as each shot of the burst fires. Thus if you aim at the head, the last shot of the burst will tend to go over their head. To avoid this, you must aim at the stomach, remembering to keep your reticule directly under their head (taking leading in to account) for the final shot, so that the reticule will rise up to meet their head as the last shot of the burst is fired.
