The sniper fires backwards through a crack of a barrier on the pit for a double kill. The sniper must have ricochet off of the spartan`s gun in front of me and hit the guy through the crack behind me for a double.

I think this is the same effect as the reverse rockets...shooting/melee while you`re getting meleed...
