people do that to loosen up there controls... the melee is a habit from halo 2... when u beat down u`ll cancel out the sound when u have a sword or shotgun persay and thus surprising your opponent... and the circling of the crossfire is to loosen up your joysticks so your thumb muscles don`t relax and freeze up... it`s dubbed the "ogre twitch"
