the only thing is its not super helpful since it only works if someone is meleeing you at the same time.

I`ve done this before. You can`t have a full clip and it barely register if you do it too fast. I don`t know what method he uses, but I use B Rb B Rb B rapidly, . Occasionally I do it too fast and it does not register, but with perfect timing, it is a BXB or (B RB B.)
