That thing was built by Weta Workshop (those guys in New Zealand who made all the lord of the rings stuff). The gun does not fire but it does shake and make noises kinda like a toy gun. Other than than its fully functional besides the fact that a Bungie guy ran it into a wall. Thats also what they used in the live action shorts they made a while back.
